| A root with a fierce aroma and biting taste. Grated or a wasabi paste (tepid water and wasabi) mixed with a soy dipping sauce is used with Sashimi, a Japanese raw fish dish. When used with sushi, wasabi paste is used for flavor and to help the fish adhere to the rice filling. It is also used with meat dishes.
